Sources in security establishment claimed that Aafia Siddiqui might have been arrested independently by the Americans from Karachi and then she was transferred to some secret location because some FBI officials contacted the family of Amjad Khan without informing the ISI. Then ISI boss Lt Gen (retd) Ehsanul Haq complained to the CIA in 2003 and protested why one FBI official was contacting the Pakistani nationals without the knowledge of Pakistani authorities but the CIA claimed that they were also not aware about the FBI operations in Pakistan.

Ahmed Quraishi on Russia Today television explains how CIA has been using third-country intelligence services to violate Pakistani sovereignty and conduct operations inside Pakistan. So the story about a 3,000-strong secret army made up of Afghans and run by CIA conducting operations inside Pakistan is alarming but comes as no surprise.

Forget India. They don’t have a case on Kashmir anyway. But is Pakistan’s case getting weaker because Islamabad is out of sync with Kashmir’s new generation of freedom fighters?

Why half a million Mehsuds were turned into refugees in their own country? Why the Wazirs were stopped from selling their fruits in the markets of their own country? Do we need to keep on killing and destroying our own people in the pursuit of this unending and unwinnable war?

The ‘Feudal democracy brigade’ is causing the greatest damage to this country and the Pakistani middle and lower classes are the hardest hit. All institutions must play a role to prevent a national collapse and the Pakistani military is no exception.
Some government-linked politicians have been whispering to the media that ISI and MI did it because they were enraged at Mr. Cheema’s coverage of the ‘missing persons’ issue. That might be, but what about the government avenging Mr. Cheema’s groundbreaking story on how President Zardari and his aides hired Turkish female ‘escorts’ and failed to pay them their dues resulting in a court case in Turkey?
India is an enemy. United States is an untrustworthy friend. And we better not ditch Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and those who came to our help then.
Pakistanis surprised skeptics. The war saw the largest tank battle since WWII and one of the best air-combat performances in the 20th century, with Pakistani fighter jets shaking the Soviet-built Indian air fleet. While Pakistani soldiers crossed deep inside Indian territory, they also suffered more losses as a result. China moved units from its formidable People’s Liberation Army to the border with Pakistan, in a sign that sent shivers across New Delhi.
It is high time the military realised that the US is no ally but a hostile state that has need of Pakistan and especially its military right now. Foreigners feel they can abuse our laws and decisions at will just as their governments and nationals mistreat and abuse our nationals as they please. In this context, the military delegation’s actions must be appreciated; but what is more important is when will reciprocate in kind?
Pakistan Air Force arranged a hurriedly organized media tour yesterday to prove that the base is not under US control. But this does not appear to be the whole truth.According GlobalSecurity.org, Pakistani newspaper Daily Times claimed on 10 March 2004 that the airbase was under US control, “with an inner ring of facilities off-limits to Pakistan’s military,” according to the paper. But in August 2010, there is credible information that new special residential barracks for US personnel have been constructed. Unfortunately, Pakistan has accepted to house US personnel who will ensure the country’s doesn’t ‘misuse’ the new F-16s. So despite PAF’s – and US Embassy’s – sharp reaction, it is clear there is some merit to the statement of Federal Health Secretary Kamran Lashari that US presence at the base is preventing using the base for flood relief operations.
Napoleon Bonaparte was correct in his assessment when he termed the British a nation of petty shopkeepers. The traits of that nation have still not changed much. Exhibit A: David Cameron, the news salesman-premier of Great Britain.
The move underscores the changing mood in Pakistan after the latest anti-Pakistan tirades in the United States. Pakistan has been the target of the worst demonization campaign since 2004. This campaign has almost exclusively been waged by US officials, think tanks and the media, with some of the negative coverage coming from pro-US politicians and media outlets in countries such as Britain.
Topping the Top Ten? “ISI for sure,’ says Gren, “No double agents, no agent ever caught on camera, the lowest budget but still affective. In war with 6 big intelligence agencies of the world. ISI has even countered MOSSAD in the 1980s and late ‘90s when there was a plan of a possible strike on Pakistan’s nukes.”
How can we have information and intelligence-sharing with a country that has systematically done and continues to do a hatchet job on our premier intelligence agency and Pakistan military? It is time for Pakistan to sever its links and cooperation with the US.
