… The FBI should also be sued by Pakistanis for recruiting American David Headley and planting him in Pakistan to execute Mumbai attacks, killing 166 innocent people there and bringing Pakistan and India to war.

It is shocking that this comes just as Pakistan asked Indian interrogators to testify in a trial in Pakistan of alleged Mumbai attack suspects. While Indians delay extending cooperation, they summon the top Pakistani diplomat for a show reminiscent of melodramatic Indian films.
Who should be held responsible: retired General Pervez Musharraf, President Asif Ali Zardari or COAS Gen. Ashfaque Parvez Kayani? They can’t shun their responsibility for the rise in CIA drone attacks in Pakistan in the past three years and someone will have to become answerable in front of the Pakistani nation.

Pakistan has been turned into a war-on-terror parking lot: 3000 American Special Forces units operate in Pakistan at the present. Pakistan’s politicos have always shown remarkable generosity in passing down the costs of their decision-making to the people. Guantanamo is a thriving industry in Pakistan and the foremost field of Pakistan-US collaboration. Pakistan’s police, army and frontier corps are part of the American security system in Pakistan.

He really thinks he’s the future leader of Afghanistan. He writes off Pakistan as a has-been and sees no need to engage it. Can he escape the fate of other puppets: Karmal, Amin and Najibullah? A Pakistani diplomat’s account of meeting Abdullah Abdullah at an international conference in Morocco in November 2010.
United States equally responsible, not just Pakistan, former president Musharraf tells a think-tank audience in New York.

A new study released by Project For Pakistan In 21st Century in Islamabad advises the Pakistani government and military to adopt a ‘calm and defensive’ posture in dealing with US military threats against the country. The report reveals that the United States is using two words in its approach toward Pakistan: ‘Fragmentation’ and ‘Mistrust. The cover of the study uses the expression ‘Divide Your Enemy’ to reflect Washington’s current Pakistan policy. Project Pakistan 21, as the think tank is known, is an independent policy research institute based in Islamabad.

What part of ‘Kabul-Delhi-but-not-Islamabad’ that Pakistani officials don’t understand? You can visit India every quarter, Mr. Obama, but coming next door without dropping by is an insult. Period. $64 billion in Pakistanis losses, 5000 dead and a generation of Pakistani children orphaned by America’s war. Pakistani officials visiting Washington without talking about this do not represent the views of the Pakistani nation.

The suicide bombers and throat-slitters are not Arab Mujahedeen or Afghan Taliban. This expertise has been introduced by the Indians and the Israelis in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Forget the Clinton-Qureshi talks. Remember the Talbott-Shamshad strategic dialogue in 1998? The declared aim was better bilateral relations but in reality the talks were a cover for US ideas on how Pakistan should maintain its nuclear weapons. The Americans have a long history of saying one thing and meaning something else. US wants Pakistan Army to launch North Waziristan war to isolate Pakistan from Afghan Taliban and future US-Taliban contacts could exclude Pakistan.

Was the green light given to CIA during the last round? Can our Foreign Minister Qureshi tell us if President Zardari gave the green light for CIA to kill innocent Paksitanis? Who in Islamabad is responsible for the deaths of innocent and patriotic Pakistanis in our tribal belt?

The riddle of Pak-US Strategic Dialogue is easy to solve: US won’t cut much slack to Pakistan to appease India and absorb the historical Indian negativity toward Pakistan.

Pakistani Pashtuns cannot be stopped from sympathizing with Afghan Pashtuns. Pakistan must tell United States to solve the Afghan Pashtun problem inside Afghanistan. Islamabad should also dispute US claims about the quality of Al Qaeda presence and strength on the Pak-Afghan border. Pakistan’s tribal belt is not responsible for American rout in Afghanistan.

US support to Pakistan is limited to papers and statements. Washington opposes Pakistan’s energy choices, opposes a nuke deal with China, opposes gas from Iran, and is undermining Pakistani interests. Time for Pakistan to draw a line.
